Chando lives in New York City. Chando was a student in Manhattan College when she became an actor. Chando played Maddie Coleman, the lead character in As the World is turning from 2005 until 2007. She then reprised this role for a length of time starting in 2009. Alexandra began her acting career in 2002 on the TV show House Blend playing the character of Jenna Harper. As the World Turns on CBS was her first television performance following three years. Chando appeared on the American television documentary show True life in 2009. She was also a part of Sherri. Chando also played Annabelle in two episodes of Glory Daze, an American comedy and drama television show. She has also appeared in Castle, Hindsight and Dead People.
